I have not had any conversations with any other potential bidders, because I think that if we’re going to have that process, the judge shouldn’t come into it with predetermined notions. I began my career as a deputy prosecutor in the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office. I started my time there prosecuting primarily high-level drug crimes and eventually was moved into prosecuting sex crimes and homicides. Before running for office, Hatfield was a deputy prosecutor in Vanderburgh County for about three years, trying cases before the very court he now hopes to lead. The candidates, who are vying to replace longtime Circuit Court Judge David Kiely upon his retirement, both touted their legal bonafides during individual, in-person interviews this month. Both answered questions about their background, experience and vision for the court.

Residents are engaged in their personal recovery journey by attending meetings and working with a sponsor and the house manager for support and encouragement. Residents adhere to a curfew, submit to drug and alcohol screenings and participate in home and community events. Successfully recovering from addiction requires more than sober living.
